Job Description
This position is for an experienced principal hardware engineer to provide development engineering support for Oracle server platforms and electrical testing of next generation server products to be used in Oracle’s Cloud and Exadata product lines.
A key responsibility is debugging and driving root cause and corrective action analysis of complex system and board related issues, ensuring effective resolution and continuous improvement.
This role is based in Burlington Massachusetts. Due to the hands‑on nature and required time in the hardware lab, this is an onsite‑role, remote work occasionally permitted when needed. Relocation to Burlington MA is available for suitable candidates.
ResponsibilitiesThis role requires hands‑on testing and debugging of complex system and board level issues, leading root cause analysis, and developing and driving implementation of corrective actions to resolve these issues.
Job responsibilities also include measurement and analysis of electrical signaling providing signal/ circuit enhancement recommendations to design engineers, performing signal and power integrity circuit simulations, timing analysis and end‑to‑end empirical testing of high‑speed interfaces using a variety of measurement and analysis tools.
Responsibilities also include executing system validation and component level qualification test plans, leading troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex board and system level issues and compiling and presenting reports for engineering leadership. This candidate will also provide technical leadership, serving as a validation project lead and as a mentor to junior engineers.
Other responsibilities include providing PCB layout, routing, and stack‑up feedback to design engineers, investigating evolving high speed interface technologies, and developing comprehensive validation testing strategies, plans and procedures.
Job Requirements Include- Proficient in electrical signal quality measurement, including jitter, noise and timing analysis.
- Proficient in the use of lab test equipment, including high speed oscilloscopes, differential probes, logic and protocol analyzers.
- In‑depth knowledge of signal integrity concepts, including frequency domain analysis.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience as a technical leader, mentor and guide to junior level engineers.
- Design and or test experience with computer or embedded system design architectures – Intel, AMD and Ampere architectures highly desired.
