Warehouse Automation Engineer (remote) at Ryder System, Inc.
SummaryThis Warehouse Automation Engineering position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, piloting, and deploying new warehouse automation technologies, as well as installing and optimizing existing solutions. This role collaborates with internal operations, solution design, continuous improvement, IT, product teams and stakeholders to select and implement new technology with automation partners.
Essential Functions- Lead minor RFP projects and support lead engineers on major RFPs by assessing potential automation technologies.
- Build ROI and justification using multiple criteria to select optimal solution designs.
- Support automation solution design validation, ensuring key items are considered for implementation and ongoing performance.
- Assist automation procurement and vendor reviews.
- Manage smaller implementation projects, including updating punch lists and project plans.
- Participate in implementation status calls and coordination with onsite teams for post‑live hypercare.
- Conduct solution acceptance testing (SAT) and track punch lists after go‑live.
- Profile data from dashboards and systems to support data analysis and system optimization.
- Track and manage project budgets, validate spend, and report on financial responsibilities.
- Partner with vendors to resolve priority tickets related to site automation performance.
- Support vendor communication for minor projects.
- Develop pilot activities, define proof of concept, and evaluate vendors to determine pilot timelines.
- Deploy pilots to evaluate business fit and operational feasibility.
- Validate new technology and automation through proof of concept implementations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, or warehouse systems integration.
- Experience with sortation conveyor, goods‑to‑person, autonomous vehicles/robots, ASRS, and related automation (required).
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, and Lean methods.
- Proficiency with warehouse design tools (CAD, slotting, simulation, WMS) and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience in financial business case analysis for ROI.
30‑40% travel required.

Compensation InformationSalary range: $100,000 – $110,000 (salaried). Eligible for annual bonus, commission, and long‑term incentive plan.
