The Structural Design Lead is in charge of leading the structural design and analysis of projects for different types of buildings and infrastructure while working from home. This job is in charge of making sure that all structural engineering solutions are delivered on time and to a high standard, as well as providing technical leadership and making sure that all codes and standards are followed.
The Structural Design Lead works with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to make sure that designs are safe, efficient, buildable, and meet the needs of the project.
Main Duties:
From the idea stage to the construction documentation stage, lead the structural design and analysis for assigned projects.
Make and check structural calculations, drawings, and specifications
Make sure that all building codes, standards, and rules (like IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE) are followed.
Give structural engineers and designers technical guidance and help them grow.
Work with architects, MEP engineers, and other fields to plan structural design activities.
Check and approve design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and buildability.
Find and fix difficult technical problems and design risks
Help with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for structural scope
Take part in client meetings, design reviews, and technical talks.
Help make design standards, processes, and best practices better all the time.
Necessary
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required (a master's degree is better).
A Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state; a license in more than one state is better.
At least 8 to 12 years of experience in structural engineering and design
Proven experience leading structural design on difficult projects
A lot of knowledge about U.S. building codes, materials, and how to build things
Ability to use structural analysis and design software like ETABS, SAP
2000, RAM, SAFE, or something similar
Great skills in leadership, communication, and writing technical documents
Ability to handle many projects and lead teams from a distance
Preferred Qualifications:
License for Structural Engineer (SE)
Experience working on projects for businesses, schools, factories, or infrastructure
Knowledge of BIM platforms like Revit
Experience working with teams that are spread out or have people from different fields
Understanding of design principles that are both sustainable and strong
Pay for the Year:
Depending on experience, licensing, project difficulty, and location, the salary range is between $115,000 and $165,000 per year.
