Overview

Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a CFD Engineer to join the team. The Engineer will work within a small team to deliver a variety of CFD modelling activities and analyses. This role will best suit an individual with extensive experience within the aerospace domain. The role will be predominantly based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required.

As part of our commitment to flexible working, employees are able to work from home for part of the week.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with internal and external customers on a technical and programme level
  • Develop suitable methodologies and conduct CFD analyses at a consistently high standard within budget
  • Preparation, presentation of technical reports and proposals
  • Support the preparation of project management planning documentation including quality, technical and budget plans
  • Maintain the project documentation in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System
  • Ensure delegated tasks achieve their full objectives
  • Manage multiple tasks and deliver within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Interact with other engineers and customers on a technical and project level
Qualifications

A relevant engineering degree or equivalent.

Essential Skills
  • Self-motivated, professional candidate with the ability to solve problem independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, to work effectively within a team or independently when required
  • Good interpersonal skills, including a diplomatic and professional approach when dealing with people
  • The confidence and desire to gain a full understanding of issues
  • Capable of working efficiently and accurately, with attention to detail and the discipline to self-check results
  • Good organisational skills, including record keeping
  • Able to act in a customer facing position
Experience
  • Significant industry experience in CFD modelling with ANSYS toolsets including FLUENT is essential
  • Experience with steady and unsteady external aerodynamic flows of civil and/or military aircraft
  • Familiarity with requirements, generation and use of aerodynamic CFD data for certification purposes (desirable)
  • Exposure to aircraft design activities (within industry) and their use of CFD modelling
  • Experience in analysis of aircraft performance, stability and control, flight dynamics (desirable)
  • Programming language experience in use of HPC and automation of ANSYS CFD tasks (desirable)
