QCS​/DCS Field Service Engineer

This position reports to the Service Manager and represents ABB as a Home Based, Field Service Engineer in the Kent area on customer paper manufacturing facilities.

As part of the Southern Service Team you will provide 24/7 on-site support for ABB QCS and DCS equipment. After initial ABB product training, you will be responsible for delivering the Service Agreement to scope. Activities include preventive and corrective maintenance on ABB QCS/DCS equipment, configuration, calibration, modification, cleaning, and adjustment.

Participate in a 1 week on call rota and develop a strong working relationship with customers across production and engineering.

• Provide high‑level field and in‑house technical support, including out of hours support.
• Fulfil Service Agreement obligations, demonstrated by the use of ABB Service Pro and other reporting tools.
• Provide application support and software troubleshooting to customers, on site and by remote dial‑in.
• Advise clients on maintenance procedures, evolution, site planning, operational methods, process measurement and control.
• Travel to sites anywhere in the UK for the above activities in addition to primary areas of responsibility.
• Prepare and write technical reports for internal and external use.
• Promote sales of maintenance services and equipment, including spare parts, and advise the Sales department of possible sales leads.
• Assist Sales and Account management with preparation of quotations.
• Commission equipment in the field as part of the project team.

• Degree or HND in Electrical or Measurement & Control Engineering – essential.
• Clean Driving Licence (UK) – essential.
• Self‑motivated and able to work unsupervised – essential.
• Excellent customer focus – essential.
• Good networking skills – essential.
• Results orientation – essential.
• Knowledge of Paper Industry – desirable.
• Knowledge of ABB QCS or DCS systems – desirable.
