Utilities Survey Manager / Power T&D Project Manager
We are seeking two experienced Lead Utilities Surveyors to join our Power T&D team on the Lower Thames Crossing—one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. You will lead on utilities surveying activities, ensuring accurate detection, mapping, and coordination of underground and overhead assets to support the delivery of transmission and distribution works.
What you'll be doing- Lead and coordinate all utilities survey activities for Power T&D works along the Lower Thames Crossing route.
- Plan, supervise, and execute surveys of existing utilities (buried and overhead) in compliance with PAS 128 and project specifications.
- Oversee data collection, interpretation, and production of high-quality CAD/GIS deliverables for engineering and construction teams.
- Interface with third‑party stakeholders, statutory undertakers, and local authorities to validate asset information.
- Manage and mentor survey teams, subcontractors, and junior staff, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Provide technical input on utilities constraints and support clash detection, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all survey records, reports, and drawings are delivered on time and meet client and project quality standards.
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Utilities Surveyor (5+ years), with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role on large infrastructure or power T&D projects.
- Strong working knowledge of PAS 128, HSG
47, and related utilities surveying standards. - Proficiency in survey technologies (EML, GPR, total stations, GNSS) and associated data processing software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS).
- Excellent leadership, planning, and coordination skills with ability to manage multiple work fronts.
- Strong health and safety awareness in a live construction environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience working on major highways or linear infrastructure projects (e.g. HS2, National Grid, Highways England).
- Survey‑related qualification (e.g. Level 3/4 in Utility Mapping, HNC/D in Surveying or Civil Engineering).
- CSCS card and relevant safety tickets.
