Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, consisting of 43 bridges, including viaducts
, 17km of complex Highways construction
, complex utility diversions, and a scheme-wide, industry leading approach to carbon reduction
.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor
, you will act as a key commercial interface between project delivery teams, subcontractors, and the client, ensuring compliance with contract terms, robust cost control, and clear, accurate reporting.

What you'll be doing

• Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities.

• Lead the day-to-day commercial management of the project, ensuring compliance with the main contract and subcontract agreements.
• Administer the defined cost contract including disallowed cost assessments, compensation events and pain/gain verification.
• Support project cost forecasting and manage the cost control process to maintain budget discipline.

• Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and stakeholder management.
• Maintain effective communication with the client's commercial and project management teams to ensure alignment on financial and contractual matters.
• Manage change control processes, including early warnings, compensation event notifications and submission of detailed quotations in accordance with the contract.
• Provide robust valuation and justification for changes, ensuring entitlement is demonstrated and recoverable.
• Support risk and opportunity management, identifying and escalating potential commercial risks early.

• Support the preparation of periodic commercial reports for senior management and client review meetings.
• Monitor and report on subcontractor account status, including payments, liabilities and variations.
• Provide commercial input into project reviews, audits and lessons-learned exercises.
• Contribute to project dashboards, ensuring key commercial metrics, KPIs and earned value data are up to date.

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
• MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
