Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced New Mexico Traffic Engineering State Manager (Hybrid) for immediate placement in our Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico office to lead our Traffic / ITS engineering services. This role offers hybrid flexibility, allowing work from home a few days per week. You will work closely with local leadership to grow an existing traffic/ITS team and provide solutions to local and national clients across a variety of project types, including ITS planning, traffic planning and analysis, signal/lighting design, and MOT.

Lead both planning/analysis and plan sheets, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) development for projects across the state and region.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead, build, and support a team of professionals to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
  • Prepare plan sheets, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
  • Manage ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
  • Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects, such as project manager, technical leader, expert advisor, or quality control.
  • Actively participate in the team’s production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and memorandums.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision of small-to-large tasks, working with junior staff and reviewing technical work and project documentation.
  • Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
  • Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Traffic Engineering projects and clients in New Mexico.
  • Experience with ITS or Emerging Technology projects and clients in New Mexico.
  • Experience in business development activities, including preparing project proposals and firm marketing.
  • Professional Engineer license in New Mexico, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Familiarity with traffic operational analysis, traffic projections, traffic safety analysis, traffic signal warrant analysis, pedestrian crossing control analysis, traffic signing, pavement marking analysis, MOT analysis and design.
  • Familiarity with ITS and technology projects following the systems engineering process and local client requirements.
  • Ability to balance management, technical skills, and client service.
  • Design Build experience.
  • Knowledge of Micro Station, Synchro, VISSIM or similar applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
