You may have also acquired the following skills:
- Prior experience should include ANSI 18.1, ANSI 3.1 Radiation Protection certification and / or ALARA planning in a commercial nuclear power plant environment.
- NRRPT and/or CHP certification desired.
- OHSA 10 and/or 30 certifications desired.
- 49 CFR Parts 100 to 177 certification desired.
- Knowledge of health physics and radiation protection programs as they relate to the commercial nuclear power plant environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills combines with strong customer focus
- Knowledge of specialized database and PC applications such as Word, Excel, and Access
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
This full-time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As an ALARA Specialist in Lynchburg, VA (remote work will also be considered), you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit.
Your work will include:
- Responsible for Leadership in implementing the Framatome ALARA program at the Framatome facilities and at Customer sites.
- Develop and recommendation of exposure reduction strategies and ALARA engineering controls such as: shielding, new technologies, source term removal and reduction.
- Coordination and liaising with Customer Radiation Protection and ALARA personnel in support of Framatome maintenance activities.
- Development of and tracking exposure estimates for Framatome maintenance activities using spreadsheets and daily exposure reports using graphs and presenting to Framatome and or Customer management.
- Development of Framatome ALARA Plans specific for Framatome maintenance activities, especially with first-of-a-kind or nonroutine maintenance activities. This may include participation in mockup training for determining detailed job steps and time study of these maintenance activities.
- Participating in Design Review Boards from an ALARA Engineering aspect for suggestions and improvement on exposure savings or reduction.
- Reporting and tracking of ALARA Metrics associated with Framatome maintenance activities and personnel.
- Assisting with transportation / logistics activities to ensure compliance with 49 CFR Parts 100 to 177 for Class 7 materials. Framatome ALARA also supports Industrial Safety as a combined discipline.
- Knowledge of Industrial Safety is required based on previous experience as an experienced Nuclear Worker.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Training will be required, pursuit of additional Safety Training is always encouraged.
- Liaising and coordination with Framatome Safety, Customers Safety, Framatome maintenance crew, on industrial safety is required.
- Performing Job Hazard Analysis development and review and Safety Industrial Safety Plans. Intermittent ALARA and RP Support at Framatome's local licensed facility.
- Additionally intermittent support of Radiation Protection and ALARA duties at Framatome's licensed work location.
