Position Type: Full‑time / Contract (1099) – Remote/Denver, Colorado or Western United States Region, CONUS.
Company: Pro Sidian – Management & Operations Consulting Services firm.
Job Overview: Provide subject‑matter expertise in seismic aspects of dam safety with the Department of the Interior (DOI) Bureau of Reclamation, developing training modules, ensuring alignment with DOI seismic and structural safety standards, and delivering content to dam operators.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on seismic safety of dams and related inspection protocols, developing modules covering seismic performance, hazard recognition, and post‑event inspection practices.
- Ensure course material aligns with DOI seismic and structural safety standards.
- Distill seismic risk for operators—identifying signs, escalation procedures, and safe practices.
- Contribute modules on seismic loading effects on dams, operational checks post‑events, coordinate with TPOC on regional seismic considerations, and emergency trigger protocols.
- Prepare pocket checklists for post‑event walk‑downs.
- Maintain the required Secret clearance (or obtain one) and comply with DoD security requirements (FAR 52.204‑2, DD Form 254, etc.).
Qualifications &
Experience:
- BS Engineering; MS/PhD in Structural/Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering preferred; PE/SE preferred.
- 15+ years experience in seismic or structural dynamics of dams, with publications or major project experience.
- Prior training experience with non‑technical audiences.
- Solid understanding of seismic hazard basics, post‑event inspection protocols, instrumentation, and communication procedures.
- Ability to develop clear, engaging training materials.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in project‑management methodologies and excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong leadership, time‑management, and analytical skills.
Security Clearance: Must hold an active Secret clearance with eligibility for Interim TS/SCI or a full TS/SCI clearance at the time of proposal submission and maintain it throughout the contract.
