Job Overview
ECI is highly motivated to attract electrical engineers with significant experience performing EHV technical design studies. The role requires hands‑on study engineers who can use any software to perform analysis and write detailed reports. Ideal candidates have deep knowledge in the following EHV level studies:
- Shunt reactive compensation and voltage control
- Coupled line resonance studies (including NGR sizing on shunt reactors)
- Single pole automatic reclosing (NGR sizing, reclose dead‑time, stability margins)
- Series capacitor analysis (capacitor sizing, MOV sizing)
- Line switching overvoltage studies (with/without breaker PIRs, point‑on‑wave controllers)
- Line insulation coordination studies (clearances, PIRs, sub‑ and line arresters)
- Breaker TRV/RRRV studies
- Line or sub‑MA D calculations
- Coupling to adjacent circuits in ROW
- Voltage/current unbalance/transposition studies
- Transformer energization
- TOV studies in HV/EHV systems
- EHV capacitor switching (analysis, TLI/PIR sizing)
- Techno‑economic conductor selection studies
- EHV power cable studies (EMT riser design, grounding, cross‑bonding, SVL sizing/placement, protection)
The engineer will join a team of experienced engineers, perform detailed EMT analysis for studies, and guide and train junior staff.
Extensive experience with PSCAD is required, and knowledge of common load‑flow tools, Math Cad, and Excel is a must.
Applicants may be qualified for a hybrid or remote work arrangement depending on experience; relocation to Madison, WI or Chesapeake, VA is preferred.
Qualifications- MSEE (PhD desirable), 15+ years performing the above studies
- Expert user of PSCAD; knowledge of ATP, EMTP‑RV is a plus
- Expert user of positive‑sequence/phasor‑domain tools
- Professional engineer license preferred but not required
- Subject to client‑mandated drug and background checks; occasional travel/driving required
