Lead Transmission Line Engineer
Join Leidos as a senior leader managing a high‑voltage electric transmission line design team. The role blends technical project management, client relations, and staff development, driving design excellence for utilities across the country.
Responsibilities- Direct multiple design teams executing high‑voltage transmission line projects (34.5 kV to 765 kV).
- Lead project execution, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
- Develop staff through training, coaching, and career mentorship.
- Manage performance reviews, timesheet approvals, and recruitment for aggressive growth goals.
- Communicate clear expectations, vision, and goals to foster a collaborative team culture.
- Participate proactively as a member of the Transmission Line Section leadership team.
- Create RFP/RFI responses and define scope of work for new business capture.
- Drive continuous improvement of design processes and tools via automation and innovation.
- Maintain client relationships, build long‑term partnerships, and facilitate business development growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Civil Engineering preferred).
- 8+ years of relevant electric utility transmission system design experience (or 6+ years with a Master’s).
- Expertise in PLS‑CADD and PLS‑POLE.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certification.
- Strong communication skills and ability to serve as primary client contact.
- Business acumen with a track record of meeting key project performance metrics.
- Experience managing staff (2+ years) and supervisory responsibilities.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering, P.E. certification, or ability to obtain P.E. within 6 months is a plus.
- Proficiency with LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, Micro Station, or GIS is a plus.
Ideal candidates located in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA. Remote work is available for qualified Pacific Northwest candidates. Relocation assistance may be available for Portland.
