Job SummarySupport the Carbon Capital Team in all aspects of project development, management, and general engineering for all energy‑related projects with a focus on energy conservation. This role will help maximize the development of Cox Conserves projects and consult across the team and company to ensure the integrity of projects and alignment with Cox Conserves goals. Key work areas include energy assessments and reporting, project development, financial modeling, budgeting, construction, operation, management, monitoring infrastructure assets, modifications, periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective action, failure analysis, measurement, and tracking.
Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for independently identifying, developing, and managing projects.
- Perform detailed facility‑level energy assessments and reports.
- Identify, develop, and manage energy‑related capital projects with a focus on energy conservation to align with Cox Conserves goals and reduce environmental impacts.
- Assist the team with strategic planning for the department’s annual and long‑term capital budget expenditures.
- Execute financial models to determine investment IRR.
- Create models to assess energy and environmental impact for projects.
- Ensure projects are developed correctly and accurately to reflect financial and environmental impacts.
- Integrate projects seamlessly into operations by developing and implementing training.
- Provide oversight to contract project managers during capital project execution.
- Perform and manage facility sustainability audits to identify projects and maintain a strong sustainability portfolio.
- Ensure safe work practices.
- Hire and manage vendors for the operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment.
- Assist in design, construction, commissioning, and operations for projects.
- File reports with utilities, government entities, or other authority having jurisdiction as required.
- Analyze power bills and incentive publications to determine prospective locations for energy projects.
- Manage inventory of spare equipment for energy projects and other sustainability assets.
- Report all relevant project aspects and performance to internal sustainability databases.
- Provide additional support to the Carbon Capital Team as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a similar degree, with 4+ years of related experience. A combination of a MS degree and 2+ years of experience, or 8 years in lieu of a degree, is acceptable.
- 3+ years of project development/management experience.
- Results‑oriented with demonstrated ability to manage resources to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Effective team and corporate communication skills, able to establish cooperative team environments and build partnerships.
- Analytical skills to evaluate data and make decisions.
- Ability to lead root‑cause analysis investigations.
- Aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability to read and understand electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams/schematics.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, structural, and architectural diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficiency with energy modeling software.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Experience with all aspects of building operations: HVAC, electrical infrastructure, lighting, equipment loads, building envelope, etc.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices.
- General knowledge of project development.
- Computer proficiency, including all MS Office programs and energy modeling.
- Excellent verbal and written corporate communication skills.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and vendors.

The position is based in Atlanta and requires a flexible in‑office/remote working schedule.
