Overview

OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking qualified candidates with experience in Tunneling and/or Underground Projects, including Slurry and EPB TBM tunnels, shafts, mining, other underground structures, and heavy civil construction projects.

ROLE
:
Provide direction, supervision, and coordination for Slurry or EPB tunnel projects undertaken by Obayashi Corporation to manage self-perform activities and coordinate subcontractors’ works. The location of the position will be determined based on the awarded projects.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the BD group in the development of new opportunities and evaluations of potential pursuits.
  • Participate in the estimating and proposal process for tendering new projects and JV projects, and work in conjunction with partners to complete the tender package.
  • Review project plans, specifications, estimating scopes, and pricing during the project procurement period to develop means and methods, scheduling, planning, and design developments for project pursuits.
  • Assist with the development of subcontractor scope packages and pricing.
  • Collaborates with Precon Group to ensure that the project schedule, budget, and work breakdown structure are developed and implemented.
  • Ability to size the required plant and equipment necessary for the slurry tunnel and ancillary equipment
  • Assist with negotiations with suppliers regarding required materials and equipment.
  • Upon project award, assists with transferring the project from the estimating group to the project team.
  • Works with the preconstruction and project teams to negotiate and establish the terms and scope of work for subcontractor and supplier packages.
  • Leads design for required equipment and oversees procurement of slurry systems.
  • Design and plan the layout of the system and its construction.
  • Develops engineering plans for the project, including development of submittals.
  • Manage and direct engineering staff and subcontractors to ensure project requirements and goals are met.
  • Supports overall project safety efforts and ensures safety standards are met and exceeded.
  • Supports the overall Quality Control Program and assists in implementation on the jobsite.
  • Coordinates and oversees project material purchasing.
  • Oversees the project required consultants and engineers.
  • Ensures the project schedule is updated and establishes procedures for measuring and monitoring the delivery of materials and progress by subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepares and delivers required project reporting to the home office.
  • Oversees and manages the purchasing of required project equipment.
  • Assist in change management, gathering information, or developing pricing for changes to the work.
  • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above, and other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related degree required.
  • 3+ years combined experience in construction/engineering for slurry and/or EPB tunneling, mining, or underground works.
  • Knowledge and experience relating to slurry density and the treatment process
  • Proficient in mechanical piping layouts and design
  • Knowledge of Water Treatment Plant design and specifications
SKILLS
  • Strong Computer Skills to include Microsoft Office, P6, Blue Beam, and AutoCAD
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software and Viewpoint Construction Software is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
OTHER
  • Able to work after hours, weekends, and on call when needed.
  • May be located on-site full-time for specific projects.
  • Traveling for meetings and site visits nationwide.
  • Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction job sites.
  • Ability to carry and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE

:$90,000 - $120,000 USD / yr
