Electrical Designer/Engineer (Remote) in East Coast U.S. to join EXP, a diverse, employee‑owned company dedicated to innovative engineering solutions for built and natural environments.
Location and StatusRemote (East Coast U.S.)
Responsibilities- Meet firm‑wide engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects.
- Oversee development of design concepts by Designers and ensure proper application and execution.
- Verify design work quality: specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
- Mentor and encourage development of Designer‑level staff.
- Apply firm risk‑management practices to project engineering.
- Lead discipline design to produce construction documents that meet requirements within allocated schedule and budget, minimizing errors.
- Front‑end load projects and apply best practices to set direction in SDs and DDs.
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
- Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects.
- Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting or difficult coordination requirements.
- Evaluate value engineering items with respect to risk.
- Develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
- Meet contractors during bid phase to review design details.
- Guide Designers on preparation of one‑line diagrams.
- Respond to RFIs and review submittals.
- Investigate and resolve installation problems; visit sites as needed.
- Provide guidance for electrical load calculations and panel schedules.
- Apply NEC and other codes; understand emergency and normal power systems.
- Use lighting, photometric, and lighting controls knowledge.
- Apply voltage‑drop, conductor sizing, harmonics, and other electrical principles.
- Edit electrical specifications and select/schedule equipment.
- Discuss specification requirements with vendors.
- Apply circuit breaker coordination and application.
- 2+ years of electrical design experience for rail/transit and building projects.
- Thorough knowledge of NEC and building codes.
- Experience with SKM Power Tools or similar for engineering calculations (skill level: fault current, coordination, arc‑fault studies).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or an EIT license (preferred).
$90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with skill, experience, certifications, and geographic location.
