RS&H is currently seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in our Richmond, VA office! The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of traffic engineering fundamentals and be knowledgeable in all aspects of traffic engineering production. The role requires the ability to work independently on technical matters and offers a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote work.

• Capacity and Microsimulation Analysis
• Safety Studies and Crash Predictive Analysis
• Traffic Forecasting
• ITS Planning and Design
• Traffic Signal Timings and Design
• Signing and Pavement Markings
• Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
• Lighting Design

• Deliver traffic engineering services for VDOT and other local clients.
• Perform quality control reviews and ensure key milestones are met.
• Formulate and solve problems with innovative solutions.
• Maintain professional registration (PE) and stay updated on relevant codes and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and manage small teams as needed.
• Perform other duties within scope of practice.

• Accredited Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience in traffic engineering.
• Professional registration (PE).
• Experience with traffic software such as HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, Tru Traffic, and Microstation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
• Knowledge of traffic engineering standards and practices.
• Experience with VDOT projects is preferred.
