Sr. Risk Engineering Industrial Hygiene Consultant – Southeast Region
Join our team at The Hartford to help shape the future of risk engineering. This Remote position supports the Southeast Regions and requires 20%–40% travel by car and air.
OverviewAs a Senior Industrial Hygiene Consultant, you will conduct industrial hygiene workplace evaluations for policy holders and fee-based customers. You will identify and analyze exposures, develop engineering solutions, and partner with customers to mitigate risk.
Responsibilities- Conduct onsite and/or virtual exposure assessments to identify potential occupational health exposures and develop an appropriate industrial hygiene air/noise monitoring strategy.
- Perform onsite air/noise monitoring surveys at customer locations and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Develop and deliver engineering solutions that reduce or eliminate exposures.
- Provide virtual Industrial Hygiene technical consultation via Microsoft Teams.
- Build relationships with National Account Managers, field Risk Engineering Consultants, Claims, and Brokers to develop valuable Industrial Hygiene service plans.
- Collaborate continually with the RE IH Laboratory to assist customers with self‑sampling and interpretation of laboratory reports.
- Develop and/or enhance client knowledge through basic industrial hygiene skills training (virtual or onsite).
- Create Industrial Hygiene Technical Reports promptly for policyholders and internal partners.
- Communicate clear consultation summaries, including reasonable and appropriate recommendations.
- Achieve monthly production goals for visits and hours.
- Provide IH consultation, coaching, and mentorship to internal business partners.
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; 3+ years of Industrial Hygiene consultation in insurance loss prevention, consulting, or industry, with a focus on Occupational Safety and Health or Public Health.
- Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Occupational Health and Safety preferred with at least 5+ years of experience.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time, including local and overnight trips; ability to travel by air, rail, or automobile.
- High technical skill and strong consultative abilities with a proven track record of delivering results efficiently.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) designation in Comprehensive Practice within 2–3 years.
- Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Experience working safely in varied environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme heat or cold, chemicals, electrical current, and moving mechanical parts.
- Position title and level determined after review of qualifications.
Annualized base pay range: $110,000 – $165,000
. Base pay may vary based on performance and other competencies. Total compensation may include bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑site recognition.
