Opportunity
Stantec is currently seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to support growth in groundwater remediation services. The Senior Hydrogeologist will support local environmental remediation teams and lead technical aspects of project delivery across multiple industries in the South and Gulf regions, with an initial focus on heavy industrial and power sector clients. The position location is flexible throughout Stantec’s Gulf and East Regions, with the possibility for remote work.
Key Responsibilities- Lead business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients.
- Analyze current and emerging technical issues and implement actions to address market, business, regulatory, and/or economic issues.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Stantec’s industry-leading technical approaches to assessment of remedial measures, remedy selection, and pilot study implementation.
- Prepare workplans and project deliverables, including sampling and analysis plans, groundwater and soil data analysis, site assessments, conceptual site models, progress reports, site investigation reports, and remedial action plans.
- Identify new business opportunities and support the technical component of business development materials.
- Engage directly in networking with existing staff on the technical execution of ongoing remediation projects.
- Lead hydrogeologic technical aspects of project development and delivery.
- Design and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field programs, including drilling, logging, sampling, and aquifer testing.
- Grow relationships with key power client accounts and recruit high caliber talent across professional disciplines.
- Provide mentoring and training for staff and represent Stantec in business, community, and social situations.
- Demonstrate active commitment to Stantec’s code of business conduct and ethics policies.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations.
- Full competence in working without direct supervision with strong time management and project scheduling skills.
- Entrepreneurial nature and ability to lead others to achieve group results.
- Strong knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, contaminant transport, and remediation practice.
- Understanding of state and federal regulations with ability to adapt to client-specific requirements.
- Interpretation of groundwater modeling results, engineering drawings, and similar work products.
- Lead several concurrent projects or tasks with sound understanding of overall goals, objectives, and costs.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with timely decisions.
- Professional interpersonal skills and professionalism with ability to review and check the work of others.
- Registered Professional Geologist license preferred in the United States with reciprocity to other states.
- Mentor and supervise team members and promote health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) policies.
- Full client‑facing engagement competency with local, regional, and national travel as required.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Geology or related geosciences field.
- Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience in groundwater and soil remediation.
- 40‑Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Experience working on heavy industrial, municipal, state, and federal contracts within the U.S. South region with local and regional geologic conditions preferred.
