Technical Services Representative

Travel Required - Based in Madison, WI

SGTS Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Services Representative to install, integrate, and maintain security, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems at client locations. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, particularly with low‑voltage relays, power supplies, and system troubleshooting. You’ll be expected to diagnose complex issues, collaborate with clients to implement effective solutions, and work independently in the field.

WHAT

YOU’LL DO
  • Install, Configure & Maintain Security Systems – Work with detention‑grade locks, intercoms, CCTV, and access control systems at client sites. Install cabling, configure electro‑mechanical systems, and ensure seamless integration of security components.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs – Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and electrical issues related to low‑voltage relays, power supplies, and integrated security systems.
  • Independent Field Work – Operate with autonomy, managing tasks and problem‑solving on‑site with minimal supervision.
  • Travel to Client Sites – Expect 50% overnight travel, typically 2‑3 consecutive nights per week (home most weekends, occasional 4‑day workweeks).
  • Emergency Support & On‑Call Rotation – Participate in periodic on‑call rotations for urgent service requests.
  • Report & Document Work – Complete service reports, document issues, and communicate findings to internal teams and clients.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Expertise in Low‑Voltage Systems – Strong understanding of relays, power supplies, circuits, and electro‑mechanical security systems.
  • Proven Troubleshooting & Problem‑Solving Ability – Comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues with minimal guidance.
  • Self‑Motivated & Independent – Ability to take initiative, manage workload effectively, and drive solutions in the field.
  • Strong Communication & Client Interaction – Ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and work collaboratively with teams.
  • Physical Readiness – Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and lifting objects over 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to Travel – Ability to commit to 50% overnight travel and work occasional 4‑day weeks (10‑hour shifts).
  • Security Clearance Eligibility & Valid Driver’s License – Must pass government background checks as required by our clients. Clean driving record required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience with Low‑Voltage Relays & Power Systems – Strong background in configuring and troubleshooting these components.
  • Knowledge of PLCs & HMIs – Experience or aptitude for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human‑machine interfaces (HMIs).
  • Technical Software Proficiency – Familiarity with Microsoft Office, security management software, and remote diagnostic tools.
  • Education or Equivalent Experience – Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field.
