We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian/traffic modelling, active travel and parking. Responsibilities
  • Utilise technical expertise in traffic signals or traffic engineering to develop designs, supervise, train, check and approve work of junior colleagues.
  • Manage traffic signal projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi‑disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
  • Liaise with clients, develop trusted relationships, proactively manage expectations and give comprehensive advice.
  • Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles.
  • Support others to maximise their personal contribution to project and team goals.
  • Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.
  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of discrete and overall project solutions.
  • Lead and manage junior staff in the delivery of traffic signal design packages, including design drawings, standard construction details, specifications, controller configurations, MOVA datasets, FAT/SAT, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and in‑house quality assurance standards/processes.
  • Be actively involved with team resource coordination, supporting the set‑up of teams and placing the right people in the right roles.
What We’ll Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of traffic signal design at various stages of the project life cycle, including local transport modelling with software such as Lin Sig and controller configuration TR2500 forms. Experience with SCOOT and MOVA design, implementation and validation is advantageous.
  • Demonstratable experience in leading a single or multiple design disciplines on relevant projects (road, public transport, active travel, public realm and/or private development).
  • Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts.
  • Ability to use, direct and check design outputs created in relevant software including but not limited to Autodesk Civils 3D and Key Signals.
  • Proactively manage change on tasks/projects, clearly communicating potential impacts on programme, cost and quality.
  • Strong communication, client/stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Working towards or having achieved Chartered Civil Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding and application of relevant design codes such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, local authority design guidance and expertise in preparing drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals including departure applications.
  • Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations.
