Power Generation Risk Engineering Consultant
Zurich North America is seeking a senior or specialist risk engineering consultant with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This work‑from‑home position (ideally within Western U.S.) requires up to 50% travel across the U.S.
Responsibilities- Complete field and desktop assessments of power generation plants and associated equipment.
- Develop risk improvement actions and recommendations to assist clients in mitigating risks.
- Provide consultative services, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating major losses, and managing programs.
- Deliver power generation training for Risk Engineering staff, underwriting staff and customers; coordinate service design, mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Manage account risk portfolio and provide engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Market Zurich products in collaboration with underwriting professionals and agents across business segments.
- Implement customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.
- Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
Bachelor's degree and ≥6 years of experience in Power Generation risk engineering, or high‑school diploma and ≥8 years, or Zurich Certified Apprentice with Associates degree, 6+ years, plus team experience. - Risk Engineering Specialist:
Bachelor's degree and ≥8 years experience, or high‑school diploma and ≥10 years, or Zurich Certified Apprentice with Associates degree, 8+ years, plus knowledge of exposures, controls, and best practices. - Preferred: 10+ years in risk engineering or power generation operations, military experience in propulsion plants, related energy industry experience, advanced Microsoft Office, advanced exposure control knowledge, certification in specialty area.
Final candidates will undergo a motor vehicle record background check; a company car may be provided depending on location.
CompensationSenior Risk Engineering Consultant: $98,300 – $161,100 (plus 15% bonus). Risk Engineering Specialist: $113,100 – $185,100 (plus 20% bonus). Compensation is subject to location and experience.
