OverviewTransportation Project Engineer – We have a career opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to be part of an established service line focused on planning, engineering design, and construction of transportation infrastructure for public agencies. The successful candidate will prepare and review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates related to a variety of transportation projects. Project Engineers also mentor and supervise the work of technical support personnel assigned to the project.
LocationThis position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule with the option to sit in our offices in Omaha, NE;
Bellevue, NE;
Lincoln, NE;
Grand Island, NE; or Rapid City, SD.
- Develop detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design
- Collaborate with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and outputs or to develop applications
- Compile and coordinate plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items
- Support studies and alternative analyses to determine best solutions to meet compliance and client goals
- Work with various disciplines and reviewers to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality deliverables
- Contribute to proposal development
- Manage small projects and project tasks; assist Project Managers in overall large project delivery
- Maintain project documentation
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or higher, is required
- Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire (preferred)
- Project experience in transportation engineering design (preferred)
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to develop task deliverables in a complete and timely manner
- Experience working with Local and State public agency clients (Public Works, DOTs, etc.)
- Proficient with Micro Station Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
