Lead advanced Power System Studies for Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems operating at 345kV and above. Mentor a team of engineers, develop analytical models, and deliver complex studies for utility transmission systems.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in modeling and simulation of EHV transmission systems.
- Make EHV study recommendations to influence risk mitigation through project execution plans.
- Communicate EHV study capabilities to internal and external clients to support project capture and development.
- Lead and support the preparation of computer-based models for EHV transmission systems.
- Perform and oversee a wide range of power system studies, including Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Dynamic Stability Analysis, EMI/EMT studies (Insulation Coordination, TOV, SOV, TRV, VFT, Lightning Effects), Corona and Field Effects studies, Electromagnetic Field (EMF), Induced Voltage and Current Analysis, Grounding System Design, and Safety Evaluation.
- Apply advanced engineering principles to develop, maintain, and enhance EHV engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on design guides, engineering codes, and industry standards.
- Consistently review and verify the accuracy of personal work and that of team members, championing continuous improvement and excellence.
- Effectively communicate client goals and priorities to project teams, integrating these drivers into complex project execution.
- Engage directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong leadership by mentoring team members and offering technical direction across disciplines.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Support proposal development, including scope definition, work breakdown, man‑hour estimates, and scheduling.
- Manage or contribute to multiple high‑impact projects simultaneously.
- Develop clear, concise written communications and facilitate effective collaboration with team members and clients.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and the ability to lead project efforts, including schedule, budget, and resource management.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard power system modeling and analysis tools such as PSS®E, Power
GEN TARA, PSLF, PSCAD, Power World, ASPEN One Liner, CAPE, and similar platforms. - Experience in substation design, including conceptual planning, physical layout, protection and control systems, relay design and coordination, engineering calculations, and documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in State of Residence or Project Needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program or the country where the professional is practicing.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineer License (U.S. PE) preferred.
