Our client, the largest engineering services provider in the USA. This role is contract to hire. We are seeking a Fire Protection / Life Safety Systems (LSS) Engineer to support projects that are central to our clients’ operations. While preference is given to candidates based in AZ, OR, TX, or PA, highly qualified applicants across the U.S. will also be considered.
As an LSS Engineer, you will deliver code-compliant asset protection and fire/life safety solutions, taking ownership of projects as Engineer of Record. This role involves both guiding colleagues and collaborating with senior design professionals to implement effective fire protection strategies, including fire sprinklers, gaseous agents, fire detection, toxic gas detection, smoke modeling, and explosion prevention.
You will work closely with clients and local code officials, using AutoCAD and Revit MEP to develop 3D BIM models in coordination with architects and engineers. From these models, you’ll design fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke and leak detection, and security/intrusion systems. Responsibilities also include preparing calculations, equipment sizing and specifications, network diagrams, and 2D/3D construction deliverables in compliance with Life Safety & Fire Codes and industry standards.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with the ability to attain PE licensure
- At least 4 years of AutoCAD design experience
- Knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA
101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code - Knowledge of and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
- Knowledge of and application of NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code
- Knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems and manufacturers’ equipment, including VESDA systems
- Design experience with Fire Alarm, VESDA systems, security CCTV, HPM and Leak Detection
- Knowledge of design and construction specifications
- Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Experience leading projects and managing resources
- Experience mentoring junior staff
- Design Management experience
- Design experience in semiconductor or data centers
- Working knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit)
