Senior Non-Key Expert Digital Energy Systems and Innovation Specialist
Qualifications required:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Strong analytical and presentation skills suitable for senior policy, regulatory, and institutional audiences
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex digital and automation concepts in a strategic, policy-relevant manner
- Excellent drafting skills in British/Irish English
Professional experience required:
General Professional
Experience:
- Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience in digital energy systems, smart grids, automation, or energy system innovation
- Experience contributing to international knowledge-sharing, policy dialogue, or analytical support programmes in the energy sector
- Familiarity with ASEAN energy transition challenges and regional infrastructure development contexts
Specific Professional
Experience:
- Comprehensive understanding of digital energy architectures and emerging trends, including data analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, and digital platforms in energy systems
- Experience analysing digitalisation in renewable energy integration, energy efficiency optimisation, and system performance at national or regional levels
- Understanding of digital solutions supporting transmission and distribution coordination, including relevance to regional grid initiatives such as the ASEAN Power Grid
- Experience preparing analytical studies, policy briefs, or strategic advisory inputs on digital energy transformation
- Experience identifying innovation-driven investment opportunities linked to digitalisation and energy transition
Position length:
- 25 working days (19 home-based; 6 mission days in ASEAN Member State – tbc)

Mid March – June 2026
Under Work Package 8B (Contribution to the EU–ASEAN Energy Dialogue), Activity 8.5 (Exchange of Experiences and Policy Dialogue on Issues of Regional Nature), the assignment supports the organisation and delivery of a two‑day policy‑oriented Technical Workshop titled: “Digital Energy Systems and Automation:
Transforming ASEAN's Energy Sector Through Innovation.” The workshop contributes to strengthening EU–ASEAN policy dialogue on digitalisation and automation as enablers of energy transition, ASEAN Power Grid (APG) development, clean energy deployment, energy efficiency improvement, and Global Gateway–aligned investment opportunities.
