The UAA Department of Journalism and Public Communications has an immediate need for an adjunct instructor to deliver a course in Web Design asynchronously online. Web Design is an upper-division course in the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications and a course within the Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Graphic Design. Qualified applicants may also apply in other disciplines such as photojournalism or news/documentary video courses, as needs vary from semester to semester.
Responsibilities- Teach credit courses as Adjunct Faculty and deliver Web Design asynchronously online.
- Contribute to a challenging curriculum and support multifaceted students while upholding the department’s mission to explore free expression and communication in a global society.
- Incorporate feedback from full-time faculty, students, and College of Arts and Sciences administrators; communicate current best practices in the field.
- Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field; relevant career experience; and official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for employment. - Experience teaching college-level courses in Journalism and Public Communications or closely related field is preferred.
- Exceptions may be made for individuals whose experience and accomplishments compensate for the lack of the required education, subject to review and approval by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean.
