Job Position:
Coordinator of Bilingual Education and Equity
- Master's Degree
- Experience in Bilingual Education and/or administration
- Have or eligible for valid NM license in School Administration.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal
This position serves as a federal and state programs subject matter expert for the Bilingual Multicultural Education Act and meeting Federal obligations to English Learners and Immigrant Students, of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA, 2015), supporting with effective World Language instruction, adoption of the Seal of Bilingualism-Biliteracy on New Mexico Diploma of Excellence, and Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Instruction.
Directs, monitors, implements and manages state Bilingual Multicultural Education Programs grants and facilitates/coordinates with schools for their BMEP. Create and facilitate District Equity Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate in the administration of the Multicultural/Bilingual Program.Monitor bilingual/ELL programs to meet state requirements and reporting.Supervise programs to ensure fidelity of implementation and compliance with state and Federal guidelines.Ensure continuous improvement of academic achievement of all ELL in bilingual and ESL programs.Identify and support best instructional practices for ELL.Seek to improve services and educational opportunities for early learners.Collaborate with Testing Coordinator for all ELL testing.Create, implement, monitor Culturally and Linguistically Responsive instruction.Move towards the state Seal of Bilingualism.Provide professional learning, guidance and support for bilingual staff.Work with other necessary programs to create a thriving BMEP.Create District Equity Council.Facilitate Equity Council.Equity Councils and Equity Leads are meant to help and inform HOW districts and charter schools become ready to serve students who need it the most.Equity Councils may choose to use this simple advisement process to guide their work in producing and delivering advisements based on current district/charter policies, programs, and procedures, as well as the results of the Martinez and Yazzie Readiness Assessment.Keep District Leadership appraised of progress and goals.
