Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Advanced Math Instructor - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD
Location: New York

You have solved challenging problems. Now apply that ability where it matters most: preparing gifted students to compete, qualify, and succeed.

GT School serves families seeking outcomes beyond strong report cards. We develop gifted learners through authentic challenges: national and international competitions, public performance records, and accomplishments students can leverage in their futures. This position exists because our math program delivers results only when students emerge from each session more confident, more capable, and prepared for competitive environments.

This is not a standard tutoring role. You will lead live virtual workshops designed to challenge high-performing students, provide focused contest preparation for competitions such as AMC and AIME, and develop reusable curriculum materials that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campus locations. If you excel at transforming natural ability into documented achievement and can communicate advanced concepts with precision, this role will suit you well.

If you possess a demonstrated history of mathematical excellence and wish to help develop the next generation of champions, we invite your application.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop and lead 2–4 live virtual domain workshops weekly that cultivate competition-level analytical skills
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for targeted contests through mock assessments, timed practice, and comprehensive feedback
  • Identify skill gaps quickly and build individualized advancement plans aligned with each student's objectives and competition schedule
  • Monitor student development using a structured math proficiency framework and modify teaching approach based on performance data
  • Produce original, challenging problem collections and modular instructional materials that other educators can deploy broadly
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Provide general homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking defined, quantifiable results
  • Conduct conventional classroom-format lessons that conclude at standard curriculum boundaries
  • Offer unplanned problem practice without strategy, assessment mechanisms, or competitive pathways
  • Rely on borrowed or insufficient materials that fail to satisfy competitive mathematics standards

  • Comprehensive knowledge of math competition structures, content areas, and preparation methods (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads)
  • Effective virtual instruction skills and capacity to maintain student engagement through video platforms
  • Availability for 5–10 hours weekly
  • Dependable internet connection and professional video equipment
Nice-to-have Requirements
  • Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented educational content
