About the Position
Position Overview This position supports the director in the development, evaluation, and implementation of all TRIO Upward Bound (UB) academic services including academic year tutoring and classroom instruction (4 classes during the academic year) and all instruction during the summer program (14 total classes delivered daily). This position supports the core staff with high school student academic progress and in the development of holistic intervention strategies and services to positively influence the program's ability to meet federal secondary school program objectives and prepare students for the academic rigors of college.
During the academic year, this position will oversee the academic program at the University, Mon‑Thurs from 3 pm‑6 pm starting in October.

Job Responsibilities- Direct Service and Instruction (40%)
- Develop, revise, and implement curriculum that is holistic, effective, and in accordance with federal mandates and educational best practices relevant to contrasting student demographics, supporting and/or supplementing Minneapolis Public High School curriculum and graduation requirements for participants.
- Track student performance, monitor attendance, and provide regular feedback on participant performance. Provide recommendations to advisors regarding student intervention services using a Multi‑tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to increase students' academic proficiency.
- Serve as backup tutor and instructor for classes and tutorial services, as needed for effective delivery of academic services.
- Program Development & Operations (30%)
- Annually implement and evaluate academic program initiatives, including: summer academic courses and academic year after school (component) courses, tutoring program, and educational events/activities.
- Oversee the implementation of an after school snack program in collaboration with the office manager and ensure compliance with USDA and MN DOE.
- Supervision and Training (20%)
- Regularly communicate with all academic staff regarding program expectations, including student work, tutoring, concerns (academic or behavior), and schedule.
- Other (10%)
- Contribute to staff planning initiatives and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS degree, plus four years of related professional experience or a master’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
- Experience in classroom instruction and/or curriculum development, preferably at the secondary school level.
- Relevant experience working with TRIO/Upward Bound‑like youth in an educational setting, including low‑income and first‑generation high school students.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong database and computer proficiency.
- Minimum of four years of experience hiring, training and supervising.
- Demonstrated understanding of college preparation and intervention services for first‑gen, low‑income students.
- Experience working in a diverse setting and/or in an urban area.
- Experience providing effective academic services to English Language Learning (ELL) populations.
- Ability to speak a foreign language – Spanish, Hmong or Somali.

Pay& Benefits
Pay Range: $24.00 / hour – $28.00 / hour depending on education/qualifications/experience.
