Instructional Technology Strategist - Part Time
Berkeley College is currently seeking a part- time Instructional Technology Strategist to work in the Center for Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology department.
Job Overview
The Center for Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology (CCIT) is a unified center to engage and support faculty and all relevant stakeholders through programs and services that address the changing landscape of education, including curriculum design and revision, exposure to innovative pedagogies, and exploration of educational technologies. In pursuit of teaching excellence, the CCIT enhances the culture of teaching at the college and, in turn, continually improves students' educational experience, ensuring Berkeley College delivers its promise and commitment to lifelong learning.
Partnering with relevant academic stakeholders (librarians, faculty, deans, chairs, academic program directors, and academic leadership), the CCIT fosters a culture of reflective teaching and a supportive community of scholars.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Center for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology (CCIT), the Instructional Technology Strategist (ITS) supports the CCIT in the development and continuous improvement of curriculum, promotes student-centered pedagogical approaches, the effective integration of instructional technologies, innovative pedagogies, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. The ITS will use best practices in educational technology integration to evaluate and make recommendations for training and tools, as well as managing and creating digital resources for faculty and staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Responsibilities may be added, dropped, or reassigned based on evolving institutional needs.
- Collaborate with other members of the CCIT team to test and review updates to Canvas LMS
- Assess and recommend appropriate educational technology tools
- Assist in implementing strategies to improve accessibility of online learning environments and digital resources
- Troubleshoot with faculty to resolve issues in the online and blended learning environments
- Contribute to faculty development initiatives by designing asynchronous training materials based on pedagogical best practices
- Collect and analyze data related to ed tech adoption or usage to inform recommendations and improvements
- Organize and manage digital resources for the CCIT Team
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of the CCIT.
Salary: $30.00/hour
Job Location
The Part-Time Instructional Technology Strategist will be a fully remote position with the expectation of 20 hours/week.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Education, or Related Fields
Training and/or Experience
- 3+ years of experience in K-12 or higher education (instructional design, education tech support, faculty development/coaching or teaching)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience working with:
- Learning management systems (e.g. Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.) --Experience with Canvas preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Video editing software
- Web 2.0 tools
- Cloud-based tools
- AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of current trends, methodologies, best practices, learning theories, and curriculum design models in education, including but not limited to:
- Backward Design (Wiggins & McTighe)
- Culturally Responsive Teaching
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to support designing accessible learning environments and resources
- Inquiry-based Learning
- Authentic Assessment
- Differentiated Instruction
- New Literacies (e.g., AI literacy, information-media literacy, digital literacy…)
- eLearning design principles
- Ethical considerations related to data privacy and responsible data handling
- Knowledge of AI tools and their implications for teaching and learning
- Familiarity with accessibility tools and considerations, such as WCAG standards, Ally Accessibility (and other relevant accessibility tools and requirements)
