About This Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Years Assistant to join our nurturing Nursery team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in Early Years education who is keen to develop their experience within a caring and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will support the Early Years Educators and Room Leaders in delivering high‑quality early years education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the School’s Mission and Ethos, and all relevant safeguarding and welfare requirements. This role would particularly suit someone considering a long‑term career in Early Years education. The School is committed to professional development and is pleased to offer funding and support for relevant NVQ qualifications in Childcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Early Years Educators and Room Leaders in planning and delivering age‑appropriate learning activities.
  • Assist the team in observing and monitoring children’s development and contribute to Learning Journeys and online assessments.
  • Provide high‑quality care and support for children’s learning, play, and development.
  • Help maintain consistent care routines, including mealtimes, sleep, and personal care.
  • Support positive behaviour management and encourage respectful, nurturing relationships.
  • Assist in preparing learning resources and setting up stimulating learning environments.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised Nursery environment.
  • Promote children’s welfare, safeguarding, and health and safety in line with School policies.
  • Accompany and supervise children on outings and educational visits.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Nursery team and contribute positively to the wider school community.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected
  • To be educated to GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • To have a genuine interest in Early Years education and child development.
  • To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • To have good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • To have confidence in using IT, including online systems.
  • To be able to work effectively as part of a team and have a proactive and flexible attitude.
  • To hold an NVQ minimum Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent (desirable).
  • To have previous experience working in an Early Years setting (desirable).
