Term Assistant Professor of Education

The School of Education at the University of Alaska Southeast invites applications for a term faculty position in K-12 education. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on pedagogy, curriculum, and instructional methods for classroom educators. This position also includes advising and mentoring education students, collaborating with faculty and school partners across Alaska, and contributing to the development and improvement of teacher preparation programs.

Faculty in the School of Education work closely with districts and community partners statewide to prepare effective educators who meet the needs of Alaska's schools.

Successful candidates will bring strong teaching experience in K-12 education and a passion for preparing future teachers. They will be skilled at creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences and comfortable teaching in both synchronous and asynchronous online formats. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, able to build strong relationships with school partners, and interested in contributing to program development and improvement within a small, highly collaborative School of Education.

Strong communication skills, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to supporting students throughout their preparation as educators are essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Masters in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.

Experience teaching in a public school setting.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. Remote work within Alaska may be considered on a case by case basis. This is a full-time, term funded, 9-month position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary will be aligned based on education and experience.
