Part‑time adjunct faculty positions available for the 2025‑2026 academic year, including on‑campus and remote teaching opportunities at Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online. Positions are on a standing pool basis to be called upon as scheduling needs arise. This role supports adult learners across a range of developmental courses in English literature, reading comprehension, and the teaching of English as a second language.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral responsibilities include facilitating student learning, preparing and delivering course material, providing timely and meaningful feedback, and maintaining student records.
- Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place.
- Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.
- Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
- Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
- Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback.
- Assign and submit grades based on the results of evaluations and the college grading policy.
- Maintain student records and grades in the College’s LMS.
- Post and be available a minimum of one (1) office hour each week that is reasonable for student access.
- Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
- Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
- Utilize available technology appropriate to the assignment.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college.
- Bachelor’s Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Secondary Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related credential.
- Demonstrated proficiency teaching language development at the pre‑college or secondary level (minimum two years); experience as a teaching assistant, adjunct, or community education instructor may count toward the requirement.
- Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and educational achievement of diverse students.
- For remote work applicants must reside in WA, OR, , CA, IL, PA, or TX.
- Master’s Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of Career and College Readiness Standards for Adult Education.
- Knowledge of multi‑level classroom language acquisition environments.
- Experience teaching at a community college or secondary level.
- Experience using instructional technology to support student learning, including LMS, digital whiteboards, and Zoom.
- Experience teaching in a variety of modalities, including in‑person, hybrid, blended, and online.
- Experience working with and relating to persons from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
