The University of Central Arkansas Department of Music is searching for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Voice. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching, research, and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institutional policy.
The Department of Music in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences enjoys endowments and private scholarships funds of approximately $2 million, annual university performance scholarships of over $850,000, a visiting artist series, and NASM accreditation. Many performances are presented in the state-of-the-art, 1100+ seat, Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall and the new Windgate Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, and 100,000 sq ft arts space in the heart of the campus, home to Music, Art, and Theatre.
The department serves 250+ majors and minors, and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees: BA, BM (Music Education, Composition, Performance, Piano Pedagogy, Conducting, Theory), as well as a Graduate Performance Certificate program. The faculty is composed of no fewer than 33 full-time and approximately 18 adjunct members, most of whom have national and international reputations.
The position’s primary responsibilities include teaching and recruiting applied voice majors, coaching recitals, and preparing for and leading studio classes. Other responsibilities may include teaching Vocal Pedagogy, Graduate French and German Diction Review, Song Literature, Opera direction and other appropriately related duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe Department of Music is seeking a gifted performer and pedagogue. All voice types will be considered for this position.
