Position: Online Assoc Lecturers/ Occasional Assoc Lecturers: Online Teacher Education

About us

At the UWE School of Education and Childhood we have a thriving suite of programmes, all focused on supporting our students to make a real difference in their professional lives. Teacher Education comprises a significant element of our portfolio and includes thriving campus-based PGCEs and fast-growing online international provision focused on International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) and International PGCEs (iPGCEs).

As a result of our growth trajectory, we are currently looking for engaged professionals to work as part of our teacher education team to contribute to the online programmes as Associate Lecturers (AL) or Occasional Lecturers (OAL). All of the work involved will be online, with no requirement to attend on campus.

About you

We are looking for ALs and OALs to support us with the following:

  • Online teaching, tutoring and practice support on our iQTS and iPGCE programmes with a primary phase focus.
  • Online teaching, tutoring and practice support on our iQTS and iPGCE programmes with a secondary phase focus - any subject specialism.
  • Interviewing applicants online for iQTS courses - primary phase and secondary phase, all subject specialisms.
  • Interviewing applicants online for campus-based Secondary PGCEs in any subject specialism.

Depending on the specific expertise and availability of applicants, we have a flexible working arrangement in line with your availability.

We are looking for colleagues who share our enthusiasm for recruiting to, and teaching and supporting students on our teacher education programmes, including working with mentors in our partner schools in the region and internationally. You should be committed to ensuring an excellent student experience and close partner collaboration.

All applicants should:
  • Have a relevant qualification at postgraduate level, including Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Have substantial experience of working as a qualified teacher in the English school system in primary and/or secondary phases.
  • Be able to work confidently online, using digital tools to support students and work with mentors, and to meet with colleagues.
  • Be flexible in your approach, have excellent interpersonal skills, and take a collaborative approach to your work.
For phase-specific work:
  • Specific secondary QTS subject qualifications and experience.
