You did not invest years building legitimate chess credentials to cover fundamentals. You are looking for students who engage actively, challenge ideas, and return with determination. You aim to develop champions. If this describes you, this opportunity is aligned with your goals.
GT School serves gifted K–8 learners seeking high‑stakes education rather than casual skill‑building. This position is designed to transform talented players into self‑assured competitors who deliver results under pressure. You will facilitate live online sessions, provide tournament‑preparation coaching, and develop scalable instructional materials that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campus locations.
This is not conventional chess instruction. GT recruits accomplished competitors, not general‑purpose teachers. You will engage with driven students, defined proficiency tiers, and concrete objectives. Strong performance in this role is reflected in rating improvements, enhanced decision‑making under timed conditions, and tournament outcomes families value.
If you possess elite‑level chess credentials, communicate effectively on video, and are committed to developing future champions, we invite your application.
What You Will Be Doing- Facilitate 2–4 live online domain sessions weekly (60–90 minutes each) covering advanced strategy, tactical execution, and competitive patterns.
- Evaluate individual student proficiency and tailor instruction to ensure each session is challenging, stimulating, and builds confidence.
- Prepare students for scheduled tournaments via practice matches, game analysis, and customized development strategies.
- Monitor student advancement relative to benchmarks and apply game data to address the most impactful skill gaps.
- Develop reusable curricula, tactical puzzles, and strategic resources that other instructors can implement with consistency.
- Deliver introductory beginner sessions that lack competitive focus.
- Allocate time to procedural meetings or slow‑moving organizational processes.
- Provide standardized, undifferentiated coaching that disregards individual goals and competition schedules.
- Operate without evidence of effectiveness—measurable progress and results define success.
Key Responsibilities

- Effective virtual communication skills and proficiency in conducting dynamic video‑based sessions.
- Availability for 5–10 hours weekly.
- Dependable internet connection and professional‑grade video equipment for live teaching.
- Willingness to supply credentials or portfolio materials for validation.
