Position Overview

The Department of Educational Studies, College of Education and Human Ecology, at The Ohio State University seeks a dynamic instructor with expertise in Learning Technologies. This appointment, at the level of Senior Lecturer, is essential for sustained operation of the Master of Learning Technologies program. The Senior Lecturer will play a central role in delivering high‑quality instruction, designing and iterating online course content, and supporting continuous program innovation in a fully asynchronous online format.

The MLT prepares professionals to design, implement, evaluate, and lead learning technologies initiatives across diverse educational and organizational contexts. This position is available for remote work.

This is a 100% appointment with an 80% teaching and 20% service & administration split. The position comprises the equivalent of ten courses per academic year, depending on assigned supervision and administrative work.

Performance Objectives
  • Deliver engaging, research‑informed online instruction across core and elective MLT courses (e.g., Instructional Design, Applied Instructional Design, Learning Theory, Educational Technology Leadership).
  • Create and maintain course materials, including multimedia resources, assessments, and learning activities optimized for asynchronous online delivery.
  • Collaborate with MLT faculty and instructional designers to enhance curriculum, embed emerging technologies, and expand online pedagogical practices.
  • Participate in program review and continuous improvement efforts that support student success and academic quality.
  • Support graduate students on practicum/capstone experiences.
  • Provide timely feedback, maintain regular communication, and uphold high standards of academic integrity in the online learning environment.
  • Contribute to the academic community through service on program, college, or university committees.
  • Engage in professional service activities that elevate the visibility and impact of the MLT program, including outreach to industry partners and professional organizations.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Learning Technologies, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in online teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, ideally in asynchronous environments.
  • Experience with instructional design principles and online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, LMS tools).
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to fostering inclusive online learning communities.
  • Experience contributing to graduate program coordination, such as curriculum alignment, course sequencing, or supporting program assessment.
  • Commitment to accessible and ethically grounded online teaching practices.
Desired
  • Familiarity with emerging educational technologies, including AI‑enabled tools for teaching and learning.
  • Experience supporting diverse graduate student populations, including working professionals balancing coursework with full‑time employment.
  • Evidence of engagement with the learning technologies professional community (e.g., presentations, workshops, professional organizations, or applied scholarship).
