Position: T2526-516 1.02 FTE Temporary Summer Grades K-12 Online Learning Support Teacher
Location: Harrison Lake Region (Agassiz)

We invite applications for the temporary position of:
Week 1 (20 days):
July 13-17, 27-31, Aug 10-14, 24-28
1.025 FTE Grades K-12 Online Learning Support Teacher
This position requires on-site attendance at NIDES for all assigned days.
Summer NIDES staff will work in teaching-teams.
Subject to enrollment.
Total 41 Days
Week 2 (21 days):
July 2 & 3, 6-10, 20-24, Aug 4-7, 17-21
Learning Support teachers work with students with low incidence challenges, behavioural/mental health issues and learning disabilities. They play an active role in the identification and assessment of students. They provide support to classroom teachers to facilitate the inclusion of students in the regular classroom, assist classroom teachers with the development of I.E.P.s and collaborate with classroom teachers to design or implement instructional strategies or to adapt/modify instructional content or materials.

They also provide direct remedial instruction.

Education/Coursework requirements:
Masters of Education in Special Education or Degree in Special Education (i.e. post diploma program, Special Education concentration)
Completed coursework design to meet the diverse needs of exceptional learners in areas:
Student with Special Needs, Learning disabilities, Strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum, differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
Minimum 3-5 years recent Inclusive Education teaching experience K-12.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Working knowledge, supported by course work and experience, of the support needs arising from learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, moderate to profound intellectual disabilities, chronic health impairments, and students with dependent handicaps
Ability and qualifications to administer Level B assessments
Ability to support classroom teachers with developing, implementing and monitoring Individual Education Plans and Learning Plans
Experience in collaborating with classroom teachers to develop supplementary and replacement curriculum
Ability to provide remedial instruction in reading and mathematics

Experience with educational software and technology to support student learning
Ability to develop positive behaviour supports using functional assessment practices
Ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team (including school district professional and paraprofessional staff, parents and community agency staff)
Ability to work as a member of the School Based Team
Ability to case manage and problem solve
Ability to provide training for, to organize and to direct the work of educational assistants and to assist principals with scheduling of EAs
