Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program!
The Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) offers County youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences in community organizations, private sector companies, and government agencies.
Opportunities- In-Person – Participants will work on‑site.
- Virtual – Participants will work from home or other remote worksite; will need access to a computer or laptop with camera.
- Hybrid – Participants will work on‑site and from home or other remote worksite; will need access to a computer or laptop with camera.
Youth are welcome to apply by selecting their first and second choice of the opportunities listed below. There are limited positions for each program. The descriptions below outline the work arrangement type (virtual, in‑person or hybrid), compensation, duration, and an overview of each opportunity.
- Aviation Exploration Training – (Virtual, $400 stipend one‑time payment, 6 weeks) – Participants engage in educational awareness training and explore careers in aviation from professionals working in the Federal Aviation Administration, such as air traffic controllers, pilots, drone operators, and flight instructors.
- Bring Your A Game to Work – Job Readiness Training – Prince George's Community College – (Virtual and some in‑person, $400 stipend one‑time payment, 4 weeks) – This enrichment experience provides participants an opportunity to coordinate and deliver job readiness training to include ethics training, career development, soft skills, and customer service training. Online activities include both synchronous learning and asynchronous activities.
- My Career Blueprint – Job Readiness Training – Forward Movement Enterprises, LLC – (Virtual and some in‑person, $400 stipend one‑time payment, 6 weeks) – This enrichment experience is designed to address current societal needs and challenges and team collaboration training services to the Prince George’s County participants. The focus will be to prepare youth for work as well as understand the invaluable opportunity of ongoing learning.
- Next Generation Scholars Cohort – LAYC/MMYC – (Virtual and some in‑person, $400 stipend one‑time payment, 5 weeks) – This experience proposes to implement socio‑emotional, workforce development, and career exploration programming and enrichment workshops for Prince George’s County youth.
- Summer of Success – The Training Source, Inc. – (Virtual, $400 stipend one‑time payment, 6 weeks) – The disciplines of job readiness, career exploration, and work project programs will prepare youth for future success in the workplace and help them make informed college and career choices. This program aims to ensure that Prince George’s County youth develop the skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed to secure and retain employment.

Pay Rate: $13.00 per hour
Duration of Employment: 6 weeks

- 911 Public Safety Emergency Call Taker Trainer – (May require a background check) – Responsible for developing proficient emergency call taker skills, collecting, organizing, and broadcasting emergency caller information to the 911 dispatchers. Should speak clearly, slowly, and with confidence.
- Administrative Support – Managing data entries, answering phone inquiries, coding, and maintaining logs of calls, emails, reports, and documents.
- Agriculture and Farming Assistant – Hands‑on skills to cultivate soil, grow crops, and possibly rear animals. Includes learning about the food system, urban farming, composting, nutrition education, healthy living, and regenerative agriculture.
- Animal Care Attendant – Caring for animals through feeding, cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining cages. Performs laundry, sweeping, and vacuuming.
- Budget and Finance Aide – Assist in maintaining accurate records, processing invoices, and preparing data responses to routine requests.
