Grapevine-Colleyville ISD virtual school is seeking a smart, experienced, and passionate individual who wants to work in a student-centered environment of respect and trust with high expectations for all members of the community. Primary

Purpose

Working from a home office and out of an office within the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, the certified Virtual Learning Instructor will “virtually” manage instructional programs by providing synchronous and asynchronous online instruction for students in their content area(s). Teachers are responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating work, conducting online instruction, online and face-to-face tutorial sessions, providing academic guidance, and being the subject-matter expert for the school’s students, including those in need of remediation or advancement.

Using the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools, the Virtual Learning Instructor will consult regularly with program staff, parents and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

Teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, Masters preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate in specified area for grades 5-12

Required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned with Advance Placement (AP) experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer-focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility and willingness to work non-traditional hours
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
  • Ability to work remotely and in an office as necessary
  • An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)
  • An ability to support and guide adults as well as students
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours weekly, as needed to support families
Experience

Three years of teaching experience with a preference for online instruction

Major Responsibilities and Duties

The Virtual Learning Instructor will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”;
  • Tutor struggling students, in small groups or one-on-one;
  • Provides diagnostic, prescriptive and evaluative services for identified students;
  • Complete all grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner;
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents);
