Job Description SummaryAdjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the ongoing development of instructional strategies that meet the needs of students and employers and promote student success.
Job DescriptionEssential Functions and Responsibilities
- Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing instructional strategies that support diverse student needs and engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success.
- Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes and design improvement strategies.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, uphold safety and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student engagement evaluation.
- Team Participation – Support the college by engaging with division, department, and team members and staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
- Business & Community Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners and promote the College and its programs.
- Student Success & Support – Advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and drive student success.
- Professional Development – Continuously improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, occupational practices, and teaching methods. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required for accreditation.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
- Minimum of four years of occupational experience in the field of the program or programs being taught, with at least one year in the last five years. One year of related experience may be waived with at least two years of post‑secondary teaching experience in the last five years.
- Recent late‑model, broad‑based HD Truck repair experience preferred.
- Teaching or training experience desirable.
- Qualified per FVTC requirements at hire and throughout employment as an instructor.
- Meets Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) requirements.
- ASE credentials required within one year of hire.
- Air Conditioning Certification preferred; required for classes involving AC equipment.
- Proficiency with learning management systems.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Adapt quickly to changing demands.
- Effective professional communication with diverse audiences.
- Commitment to continuous instructional improvement and innovative methodologies.
- Background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted prior to hire.
- Mobility to attend meetings, facility tours, and teach in the lab.
- Lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (up to 50 pounds).
- Climbing stairs or ladders and moving safely around vehicles in the lab.
- Fine motor skills for writing on whiteboards, demonstrations, or using instructional technology.
- Repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel for off‑site teaching or professional development may be required.
- Qualified to operate a vehicle or equipment as necessary.
- Primarily in person with virtual or hybrid support.
- Classroom and laboratory settings, and occasional outdoor work in all conditions.

Additional Information- Hourly pay rate: $45.00 (based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, internal equity, and market data).
- Adjunct instructors are hired on a per‑course basis, with total hours ranging from 3 to 8 per week, including day, evening, and weekend classes.
- Work‑life balance supported through flexible schedules or remote work options for some positions and a range of facilities at the Appleton Main Campus.
