The Counseling Department in Regent University's School of Psychology and Counseling is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position with primary responsibilities in our Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling (MCFC) program. We seek a candidate with a clear professional identity and expertise in marriage and family counseling who can integrate Christian faith with systemic and relational counseling approaches while maintaining excellence in teaching, research, and service.

The position requires evening and summer teaching, with candidates expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching across face-to-face, online, and hybrid course delivery modalities. The position will be housed at the main University campus in Virginia Beach, VA.

About Our Program

The Counseling Department is housed in the School of Psychology and Counseling. It offers four CACREP degree programs:

  • M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (online and face-to-face)
  • M.A. in School Counseling (online and face-to-face)
  • M.A. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling (online and face-to-face)
  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision (online)

The Ph.D. program was the first CACREP-accredited doctoral program to be offered completely within an online format. Faculty and students are active participants in the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) and other national, regional, and state organizations, including the Counseling/Counselor Education Track within the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS).

The programs draw students from across the country and around the world to develop their counselor identity and skill set within a Christian paradigm and worldview. Faculty who can articulate systemic and relational counseling theory and practice through the lens of the Christian tradition are essential in carrying out the mission of the school and the university.

Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited Counselor Education and Supervision program
  • Clear professional identity as a Marriage and Family Therapist or counselor specializing in marriage and family work
  • Current licensure as an LMFT or LPC with significant training and experience in marriage, couple, and family counseling
  • Demonstrated expertise in systemic and relational counseling theory and practice
  • Ability to teach across the counselor education curriculum, with primary teaching and supervision responsibilities in the Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling master's program
