About the Department

The Lindner College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO) is searching for two academic advisors to work as part of an innovative team and empower future business problem solvers. Candidates will advise current and prospective students about how to meet their educational, professional, and personal goals. Flexibility is key, as there are many facets that encompass the responsibilities of this role.

The UPO is responsible for providing all undergraduate academic advising services for Lindner students. Advising is offered through individual and group academic advising appointments, orientations, and workshops. A part of this role, candidates would be responsible for teaching at least two first-year experience business courses. This is a primarily in-person position with the potential for some hybrid work opportunities.

Job Overview

The Undergraduate Programs Office is searching for two Academic Advisors/Sr. Academic Advisors. Final title and compensation will be based on qualifications of applicant. In this role you will advise current and prospective students about how to meet their educational, professional, and personal goals. For a Sr. Academic Advisor role, candidates may be responsible for providing leadership for one or more student programs or services within a unit.

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions
  • Will teach one or more first-year college-level courses each academic year.
  • Provide academic advising to facilitate students’ successful and timely educational planning and degree completion in alignment with their educational and career goals.
  • Serve as advisor for a designated caseload of students through proactive outreach, support, and education. Develop a rapport of trust and accessibility with assigned students. Ensure accurate advice and quality support, contributing to persistence and a positive student experience.
  • Monitor student progress and develop graduation plans in partnership with individual students. Provide information regarding curriculum, policies, procedures, opportunities, and guidelines for academic programs.
  • Evaluate student information and utilize data to facilitate enrollment and registration. Maintain advising and enrollment records. In partnership with faculty, assess advanced standing credit, substitute courses to meet graduation requirements, and create degree audit exceptions. Facilitate and/or complete degree certification.
  • Evaluate student needs and provide appropriate resource referral to career, academic, counseling, and student life resources and opportunities.
  • Support students through educational transition processes (ex. orientation, exploration, transfer, transition, and graduation).
