. The Brunel Sanctuary scholarship is dedicated to individuals who have fled persecution and are seeking asylum in the UK. This scholarship aims to give people under this category the opportunity to attend higher education in the United Kingdom. Introduced in 2018, the scholarship programme is open to refugees who have received or are eligible to secure an offer to study on a full time Undergraduate course starting in September 2026.
The Brunel Sanctuary Scholarship is offered for the full length of an undergraduate degree programme
. Recipients for the scholarship will receive a full fee waiver to study a 4 year maximum undergraduate degree of their choice at Brunel University
. Apart from the full tuition fee waiver, successful applicants will receive free single occupancy accommodation in one of Brunel’s Halls of Residence’s in standard halls for up to 52 weeks.
For the 2024 Academic year, Brunel University is offering a total of 5 scholarships to eligible students who have secured admission for their preferred programme at the University.
Benefits:
- You will receive a full tuition fee waiver per year for the full duration of your chosen course.
- Selected applicants will receive an allocation and payment for an on campus standard room accommodation per year for a maximum of 52 weeks.
- Your accommodation will be paid for, for a maximum of four years for a full time Undergraduate course. This may include the foundation year or for five years of a sandwich course.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Scholarships are open to all students who meet the academic and immigration criteria regardless of their countries of origin.
- You must be applying to study for a full time Undergraduate course at Brunel University.
- Have an immigration status listed above, which would also permit registration at Brunel University London.
Immigration Status Requirements:
- Candidates with asylum seeker-approved application.
- Applicants with refugee status obtained (includes the Syrian Vulnerable Person Relocation Scheme or similar schemes).
- Candidates with discretionary Leave to Remain as the result of an asylum claim.
- Applicants under Humanitarian Protection.
- Candidates with the Immigration settlement in the UK status as a result of the Family Reunion scheme.
- Applicants with the Limited leave to remain in the UK as a family member of a refugee status.
- Those with Limited leave to remain status granted on Human Rights grounds.
- Remember, to be considered for the scholarship,
you must apply and secure admission for your preferred undergraduate degree programme at Brunel University
. - You must then complete the online scholarship application form
. Applicants must be able to verify their immigration status and are required to provide evidence in the following form: - Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
- Home office letter confirming immigration status
- Passport with vignettes
- An application registration card (asylum)
- Applicants will be required to submit all evidence alongside their scholarship application.
