Geology Instructor - Adjunct; Online

Anticipated Start:
Fall 2026 (August 3, 2026)

Position Type:
Semester-based adjunct appointment, with the possibility of renewal depending on enrollment needs and performance.

Primary

Purpose:

Teach geology courses in accordance with established course outlines and the published schedule.

• Prepare and teach geology courses.

• Deliver all courses fully online asynchronously.

• Maintain accurate student records and submit all required college reports in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with colleagues and administrators in program planning, assessment, and continuous improvement processes.

• Prepare, review, and update course outlines regularly.

• Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as needed.

• Assist with the selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.

• Support student retention and success through timely communication and feedback.

• Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and courses.

• Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled.

• Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications. Candidates must meet one of the following:

• Master’s degree in Geology OR

• Master’s degree in a closely related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Geology.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to use computers and instructional technologies, including course management systems, word processing, email, Internet, and student information systems.

• Previous community college teaching experience.

• Demonstrated online teaching experience.
