AHSABC is seeking a caring, community-minded, and collaborative AHS Advisor to join our team. This role is rooted in relationships, cultural respect, and the shared vision of supporting Indigenous children and families to thrive. Aboutthe Role
The AHS Advisor brings heart, knowledge, and leadership to support AHS programs provincially. Working independently as part of a warm, supportive remote team, you will help nurture high-quality early years programming guided by the AHS Principles and Guidelines. Your work will uplift early childhood educators, strengthen program quality, and support communities through mentorship, capacity building, and cultural advocacy. This role reports directly to the AHSABC Director of Programming.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Support and strengthen AHS programs to deliver high-quality, culturally grounded early year learning and child care guided by the AHS Principles and Guidelines and the BC Early Learning Framework.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with AHS communities through coaching, mentorship, and collaboration.
- Offer both in person and virtual peer mentoring to grow the AHS ECE profession.
- Develop facilitation skills and contribute as a LOVIT Way PEP Facilitator (training and onboarding provided) guiding programs through action plans.
- Document program support activities using the AHSABC Gathering Basket digital tool.
- Host monthly regional sharing circles to encourage connection and knowledge sharing.
- Support reporting, planning, and program evaluation activities.
- Help promote AHS initiatives, write stories and articles, and contribute to social media and training events.
- Collaborate closely with the AHSABC Team using the MS365 Teams platform.
- Attend meetings, trainings, cultural gatherings, and celebrations across BC and Canada.
- Education in Early Childhood Education, including a BC ECE Certificate and/or Child and Youth Care Degree.
- Experience with Aboriginal Head Start programs (frontline experience preferred).
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person and/or strong relationships with Indigenous communities is an asset, bringing knowledge of diverse Indigenous cultures and community strengths.
- Excellent administrative ability to support organizational initiatives, reporting, and planning and day-to-day coordination.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Confidence using digital tools, online platforms, and office productivity software to manage tasks.
- -3 or ITERS-3 is an asset.
- Communicate effectively and work independently with accountability and purpose.
- Experience with ECERS3 or ITERS3 is an asset.
- Experience working with Elders and parents in early childhood settings.
- Valid BC Driver’s License.
- Remote work from a home office (equipment provided by AHSABC).
- Regular collaboration with the AHSABC Team via online meetings, phone, and email.
- Travel to AHS communities for visits and in-person support.
- Ability to attend training events, gatherings, and celebrations across BC and Canada.
- Full-time, permanent role (35 hours per week).
- Flexible schedule with approximately 80% of hours between 8 AM–4 PM, Monday–Friday. Some evening or weekend hours for gatherings or training.
- Must reside in British Columbia.
