We are seeking to appoint a warm, professional and highly capable Nursery Manager to lead our Nursery provision for children aged 1–4 years.
The Nursery Manager has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Nursery, leading the Early Years Educators team and working closely with parents to deliver outstanding care and education. Reporting to the Principal, the role involves working autonomously with confidence, sensitivity and sound judgement, always placing the needs of children and families at the centre of practice. This position sits on the Senior Leadership and Management Team (SLMT) and has excellent opportunities for professional development.
Key responsibilities:
- to lead and manage the Early Years Educators team, ensuring appropriate staffing ratios, effective deployment and holiday management
- to promote a shared vision and work with the Admissions Department to maximise Nursery occupancy
- to recruit, induct, support and performance-manage staff in line with School policies
- to attend and lead staff meetings, INSET sessions, parent information events and marketing activities as required
- to be responsible for safeguarding, welfare, health and safety within the Nursery
- to ensure full compliance with the EYFS statutory framework and all regulatory requirements
- to review Nursery policies and procedures and manage resources effectively within agreed budgets
- to ensure a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum that meets the individual needs of all children
- to liaise with Pre-Prep and Reception staff to ensure smooth transition and curriculum continuity
- to oversee assessment, reporting and the quality of the learning environment, including outdoor provision and wraparound care
The successful candidate will be expected:
- to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
- to have Qualified Teacher Status, Early Years Teacher Status, Early Years Professional Status or another suitable Level 6 qualification
- to have a strong knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework, curriculum and assessment
- to have excellent communication, organisational, IT and leadership skills
- to have a secure understanding of child development and safeguarding
- to have the ability to motivate others, build effective teams and work positively with parents
- to have a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to work flexibly as required
