The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) is searching for an education and meetings leader to serve as our Director, Education and Meetings
. In this highly visible role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of the department. You will apply your leadership experience to guide and develop the team, support the ongoing growth of the organization, and provide strategic recommendations to the Board on how to make our programs more engaging, innovative, and effective through the use of diverse tools and approaches.

Position Summary

Lead the Education & Meetings department in developing, delivering and evaluating world-class neurosurgical education and meetings that support the CNS mission of enhancing health and improving lives through innovative neurosurgical education, advancement of clinical practice & scientific exchange.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Define and implement the strategic plan for educational programs and meetings (annual meeting, live courses, online education and section meetings).
  • Oversight of all live and online education and meeting budgets, scientific program/curriculum, vendor contracts, revenue models and opportunity for growth.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and maintain high quality of educational content and format.
  • Supervise and lead Education and Meetings staff (performance management, professional development, communication, collaboration).
  • Collaborate with committees, internal stakeholders (marketing, development, membership, finance), and external partners and affiliates.
  • Monitor and analyze learning outcomes and participant data; recommend improvements for growth or change.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive, strong leadership, staff mentoring, strategic thinking and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience in adult education, ideally with a solid understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Strong experience with adult learning
  • Excellent meeting/planning project management skills and budget oversight.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex programs, multi-site logistics and vendor relations.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory success with a large staff, required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in association/meeting/education management, with 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Previous experience with accreditation processes (ACCME), required.
  • Experience with scientific/medical/healthcare education preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel to meetings at national, regional, or local venues and fulfill evening or weekend obligations. (Under 10% air travel is required.)
