This position offers a base salary of $48,500 plus eligibility for a performance bonus. Start Date – ASAP.
The Special Education Teacher is a state-certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance, manages the learning process, and focuses on students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher works with students and parents to advance learning and is responsible for the compliance documents required for serving students with special needs.
The mission of Florida Cyber Charter Academy (FLCCA) is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience through partnerships with school and community/family, with a data-driven and student-centered instructional model. This is a full-time position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and to maintain a professional home office during work hours (typical schedule 9-5 or 8-4, or as defined by the school).

- Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team.
- Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies for students with special needs.
- Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation.
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings.
- Utilize provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, including assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.
- Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
- Support inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
- Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
- Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Personalize learning for all students and maintain high expectations.
- Maintain grade book, support student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns about performance and progress.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom in line with academy policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word;
Power Point - Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with the proposed age group
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience with online learning platforms
