Seeking experienced physics educators/researchers (Master's+ and 4+ years) to document professional practice, develop screening criteria, and produce case studies for a qualitative study on physics education benchmarks. Responsibilities include sharing career and pedagogical approaches, documenting substantial research or lab/curriculum innovations, and participating in occasional feedback sessions; work is remote, asynchronous, and paid hourly ($60–$90/hr). Candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada, be fluent in English, have lab instruction experience, and be comfortable with remote collaboration tools.
About the Project Sepal is conducting a qualitative research study to define benchmarks of professional excellence in physics education. We are looking for experienced professionals to contribute their expertise through structured documentation of their work, creation of domain specific screening criteria, and development of high quality case studies. Selected contributors will help shape an industry informed framework for evaluating physics education expertise, with a focus on real world practices, decision making, and professional judgment.
Ideal Participants May Hold Titles Such As - Physics Professor - Theoretical Physics Instructor - Applied Physics Lecturer - Astrophysics Faculty - Quantum Mechanics Teacher - Physics Lab Coordinator Requirements - Master's degree or higher in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related physical science - Minimum 4 years of full time professional teaching or research experience in physics
- Experience with laboratory instruction and experimental design - Published research or significant contributions to physics education (preferred) - Fluent in English - Currently residing in the United States or Canada - Access to a computer with stable internet and video conferencing capabilities - Comfortable with remote work tools (messaging, video calls, uploading documents) - Able to work independently and follow written instructions What You'll Do - Share your professional journey, research background, and pedagogical approach - Help define field specific evaluation criteria used in physics faculty hiring and lab assessments - Document at least one substantial research project, laboratory innovation, or curriculum development, including context, approach, challenges, and outcomes - Participate in short feedback or calibration sessions as needed Compensation & Logistics - $60 to $90 per hour, depending on expertise and relevance, with bonuses for key contributions - Begins with a paid trial period - Paid every two weeks based on approved and tracked hours - Fully remote and async friendly, work at your own pace within flexible deadlines
